Renovation grants in Belgium: an overview for Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels

Renovation grants in Belgium changed substantially in 2026, and support now differs sharply by region and income. Flanders: Mijn VerbouwPremie in 2026 (revised on 1 March 2026)

Mijn VerbouwPremie covers these categories of works:

• Roof
• Outer walls
• Floor
• Windows & doors (exterior joinery)
• Preparatory works for insulation (damp treatment)

Since 1 July 2025 there is no premium for a new solar water heater or for interior renovation.

Amounts: the change on 1 March 2026

Amounts are not one fixed sum. They depend on the category of works, your target group and your income category, and each category of works is capped separately. The official Simulator Mijn VerbouwPremie 2026 gives your exact amount.

• Owner-occupiers in income categories 3 and 4 and landlords renting via a social housing company: all categories of works remain eligible, with unchanged rules
• Owner-occupiers in income categories 1 and 2 (the two highest incomes) and other investors in a house or apartment: only heat pump and heat pump water heater premiums, for applications until 31 December 2027
• For those groups: geothermal heat pump €4,000, air-to-water €1,500, air-to-air €300, hybrid €800, heat pump water heater €450, capped at 20% of the invoice (category 1 and investors) or 25% excluding VAT (category 2)
• Investors in a non-residential building: no Mijn VerbouwPremie any more

How to apply in Flanders?

1. Make sure your contractor is registered (check the Fluvius list)

Wallonia: primes Habitation close on 30 September 2026

Wallonia's current regime, the primes Habitation 2025-2026, is closing: every premium application, including the final invoice, must be filed by 30 September 2026 at 23:59. The overview below describes that regime for files still in progress.​

Premie Habitation 2025 Wallonia applies to:

Conditions

• Property must be at least 15 years old
• Owner-occupiers only (tenants are no longer eligible since 14 February 2025)

• Works must be carried out by a registered contractor
• Private residential properties only (not commercial buildings)​

Amounts: income-dependent

Wallonia uses income multipliers: a base amount multiplied by a factor that depends on household income.​

The exact amount depends on household composition, income and type of work. No new application can be filed after 30 September 2026.​

Important: grants discontinued

• Grant for "heating appliances": Discontinued 14 February 2025
• Grant for "minor works without audit": Discontinued 14 February 2025
• "Chauffage et Eau chaude pour tous" grant: no application possible since 31 August 2026
• Audit grant & works grants: applications until 30 September 2026 at 23:59​

How to apply in Wallonia?

1. Step 1: Book a certified home energy auditor
2. Step 2: Auditor carries out and submits the report
3. Step 3: Apply for the audit grant via Mon Espace Wallonie, by 30 September 2026 at the latest
4. Step 4: Have the recommended works carried out by a registered contractor
5. Step 5: Collect final invoices, photos (before/during/after) and technical appendices
6. Step 6: Complete the works grant application and send it to the address on the form
7. Processing time: 2-3 months​

Timing: whatever the audit date, every application under the current regime, including the final invoice, must be filed by 30 September 2026. From 1 October 2026 Wallonia switches to loans: Rénopack (a 0% loan with part of the amount waived) for income categories C1 to C3, and Rénoprêt for C4, landlords and co-owner associations. They only apply to works that lift the label from G or F to at least D, or from E to at least C, and require an audit before the works. Brussels: no RENOLUTION grants for new works

Brussels ran the RENOLUTION grants, but as of September 2026 there is no government decision on any new form of financial support for renovation. The scheme covered the following works:​
