When a home is sold, an electrical installation inspection report is mandatory if the installation dates from before 1 October 1981.
Validity
The inspection must be carried out by an approved inspection body. The sale can go ahead even if the installation fails. The buyer then has a set period to bring it up to standard: in Flanders this is generally 18 months.
